A hydraulic valve lifter, also known as cam follower or hydraulic tappet, is a device for maintaining zero valve clearance. A faulty hydraulic lifter will usually result in the rocker arm and valve tip, also going bad if left unattended.

The most obvious symptom of a faulty hydraulic lifter or a Sticky Lifter is the noise it creates in your engine and you can usually distinguish by the distinct sound. Instead of a knock or ping, a faulty hydraulic lifter will usually make a sound more reminiscent of a tapping sound. It needs to be replaced, good practice is to replace them in a set and if you are installing a new camshaft, it's mandatory.

The hydraulic valve lifter set is suitable for a hydraulic standard camshaft or modified camshaft 'bump stick' and are made by Nason, which had being supplying engine parts in Australia since 1927.
